Department offers a service function to the General Hospital, Karapitiya by carrying out certain special tests such as serum electrophoresis, serum creatinine, creatinine clearance, urine pH, urine amino acid chromatography, test for PKU, blood methaemoglobin percentage etc.

- Animal House of the Faculty is under the administration of the Department of Biochemistry. It offers services to postgraduate students to carry out research using animals.
