Two MPhil positions available for research on a clinical trial at Teaching Hospital Karapitiya for a neural engineering and rehabilitation related research project. Candidates should be highly self-motivated and able to work in multi-disciplinary teams.

Candidate 1: MPhil – Engineering (Faculty of Engineering) – Funded RA position – Full time

Job description: Including but not limited to data collection, analysis of neural signals, programming machine learning algorithms and data analysis for Brain-Computer Interfaces to apply in stroke Rehabilitation. The RA will conduct the clinical trial and is expected to be at Faculty of Medicine, Karapitiya for 5 days a week, while occasionally may need to travel to Faculty of Engineering, Hapugala.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (local or foreign graduate) with first class or second class (upper) honours in the field of Biomedical/ Electronics/ Electrical/ Computer Engineering or relevant field. Coding experience with MATLAB or Python. Candidate should have studied Digital Signal Processing. Machine Learning will be an added advantage.

Candidate 2: MPhil – Physiotherapy (Faculty of Medicine) – Self-funded – Part time

Job description: Including but not limited to evaluating patients at Faculty of Medicine, Karapitiya and analyzing the data collected related to physiotherpy.

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Medicine, Physiotherapy or Allied Health Sciences with physiotherapy and rehabilitation as a subject with a first class or Second Class Honours.
