Colors Nite 2018 / 19 of University of Ruhuna, a glamorous ceremony, was held on 27th March 2021 at Rabindranath Tagore Auditorium of University of Ruhuna.
The Colors Nite is considered as one of the much-anticipated and prestigious ceremonies of the University which recognizes and acclaims exceptional performances of university sportsmen & women. University colors are the most prestigious award, a sportsman or woman can achieve at their University life.
The occasion was graced by the Chief Guest, Senior Prof. Sujeewa Amarasena, Vice Chancellor of University of Ruhuna and the Guest of Honor, Colonel Dr. Saveen Semage, Consultant Community Physician, Deputy Director Army Preventive Medicine & Mental Health Services.
It was a truly memorable occasion, an event of joy and sparkle for the color holders, bringing pride for their families and gratitude for their coaches. A total of 185 color holders, 69 best players & 15 special prizes for years 2018 & 2019 were honored. Students of Faculty of Medicine showed excellence in the fields of swimming, chess, badminton, table tennis, karate, elle and hockey.
Faculty of Medicine was able to shine not only by the sports accomplishments but also by the musical and cultural events that embellished the occasion. The Faculty dancing team glamorized the ceremony with the welcome dance and a cultural event while the faculty musical group entertained the audience with two mesmerizing musical events. The Faculty’s excellent comperes were among the team who anchored the event. All the Faculty staff members, Prof Channa Yahathugoda, Dr Janithra de Silva, Dr Amaranath Karunanayake, Dr Achala Liyanage, Dr Rajitha Eranga, Dr Eric de Zoysa and Associate Professor Gayani Liyanage, Dr I L A N Darshana and Prof Madhu Wickramathilake who contributed in making this event a success are heartily appreciated.
We congratulate the Color Holders on their merited triumph and thank them for bringing glory to Faculty of Medicine as well as Mother Ruhuna. We wish them all numerous more long stretches of accomplishment in sports.
