Students showcased their creativity through Kolam, intricate designs made with colored powders, adding a vibrant touch to the venue. Following tradition, prayers were offered to the Sun, and a Pooja was performed by the Chief Priest of the Murugan temple, emphasizing the festival’s spiritual significance.
The celebration featured lively cultural performances, including classical dances and Bhajana songs, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Tamil community. Through rituals, performances, and community engagement, the Thaipongal celebration at the University of Ruhuna demonstrated the institution’s commitment to celebrating diversity and promoting cultural exchange.
