A MoU was signed between the University of Ruhuna (UoR) and the National Child Protection Authority (NCPA) to establish a newly equipped video recording unit for victims of child abuse at the Department of Forensic Medicine, University of Ruhuna on 25th of May 2023 at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ruhuna.  The main objective of establishing such a unit is to prevent revictimization of children.
Mr. Udaya Kumara Amarasinghe, the chairperson of the NCPA, Senior Prof. Sujeewa Amarasena, the Vice Chancellor UoR, Prof. T P Weerarathne the Dean FoM, Ms. Sujatha Alahapperuma, Deputy Chairperson NCPA, Ms. Anoma Siriwardhana, Director General NCPA, Dr. Hemamal Jayawardhana, UNICEF, Dr. Nayana Liyanarachchi, Senior Lecturer, Department of Paediatrics and Prof. Janaki Warushahennadi, Head, Department of Forensic Medicine were present.
